Share Tax Information Securely

Share Social Security numbers, EINs, and other sensitive tax identifiers through encrypted links that self-destruct after viewing.

The problem

Tax identifiers like SSNs, EINs, and ITINs are permanent — they cannot be rotated like passwords. Sharing them over email or text creates a persistent identity theft risk. Accountants, HR departments, and financial advisors routinely receive these numbers through unencrypted channels, leaving them exposed in email archives and chat logs indefinitely.

How Vaulted helps

Vaulted encrypts your tax information in the browser with AES-256-GCM before transmission. The self-destructing link ensures sensitive identifiers are available only until the recipient retrieves them. Because the encryption key lives solely in the URL fragment, the Vaulted server never has access to your SSN, EIN, or other tax details.

How to do it

  1. Enter your SSN, EIN, or other tax identifiers into Vaulted
  2. Set a one-view limit and the shortest practical expiration
  3. Send the encrypted link to your accountant, HR, or financial advisor
  4. They retrieve the information, and the link is permanently destroyed
